Antirrhinum magus
the common Snapdragon
Our first featured flower is the Antirrhinum Magus, or the common Snapdragon. This is an annual flower that likes to grow in full sun. Full sun means 6 or more hours of direct sunlight a day. These beauties grow to a height of 6 inches to 3 feet. There origination is in the Mediterranean region and southern Europe. They were brought to the United States by Colonists. A fun fact is that they have grown since the Roman Empire. They have been thought to protect from witchcraft and if kept near babies, would keep them from being afraid of evil spirits. There are several popular varieties of snapdragons. We will be growing Madame Butterfly Bronze, Chantilly Light Salmon and Sherbet Toned Chantilly Mix.
